My guess is that solely the deepest soul collector will know the title of LAMONT BUTLER. Born simply over 70 years in the past he has only one album to his title, ‘It is Time For A Change’ and through the years (you have guessed!), it is turn out to be extremely collectable!
Lamont (nonetheless alive, by the best way) was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky by a god-fearing household headed by locally-renowned gospel, blues and R&B singer and pianist Clifford Butler. As he grew older Lamont toured together with his father and ultimately broke out on his personal in addition to working with teams like The Enterprise, The Dynamics and The New Beginnings. He began writing his personal songs and, utilizing his dad’s previous four observe recorder, he began to place them on tape – ultimately having sufficient for an album – the aforementioned ‘It is Time For A Change’. Lamont peddled it at his gigs (secular and within the native church buildings) and he tells us it was “massive in and round Louisville”!
After the dying of his father, Lamont misplaced his ardour for music and drifted away from the enterprise and was unaware of the curiosity in his album, which Acid Jazz imprint, Miles Away, are all set to reissue in April (together with his full co-operation). The set is a gospel eight tracker and highlights embody ‘Come Into God’s World’ and the rousing ‘Get Up And Reward The Lord’. The sound all through is tough and prepared… homespun even, however none the more severe for that! Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles are already enjoying tracks on their reveals and receiving loads of optimistic suggestions.
