Diane Blackmon’s radio career began in 1973 at KDIA-AM in akland, alifornia as the first black engineer an on-air Announcer/Engineer in the country. With stints at KSOL-FM in San Francisco, CBS Philadelphia and NBC, San Francisco.  In 1990, she founded D. Blackmon Broadcasting, Inc. and Entertainment Marketing West, which develops and executes national  and local promotions and marketing campaigns for major corporations, movies, records and special events. One of the only Black Female CEO’s of a major syndication radio company.

In 1996, Diane founded BURN: Black University Radio Network, on 50 Historic Black Colleges and Universities ( HBCU’s). The BURN: Direct EFX, E101 Entertainment 101)” Sports Vybe”, and Hip Hop Countdown & Report. Programs include, interns, scholarship, street teams, mentoring and student employment programs.
In 1997, Blackmon founded the non-profit organization, the Association of African American Advertising agencies (5A’s), which quickly become the “watchdog” group against corporate
discrimination practices against urban media. Recognizing that African Americans represent 500 billion dollars of the United States  economy, the organization’s goal is to increase overall sales and budgets for Black-owned media and identify unfair hiring practices in General Market advertising agencies and media companies. The 5 A’s represented over 200 urban radio stations, newspapers, advertising agencies and magazines.

A Northern Californian native, Blackmon has studied at Solano College, Harvard, UCLA and Dartmouth University. She is a devoted community activist and philanthropist sponsoring the “RadioScope” Celebrity Christmas Caravan (13years) annual “Summer Fresh” concert (10+ years) and the Anti Drug & Gang Rally for Los Angeles youth. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club and is currently devoting most of her time.
