GOOD STUFF!

RICHIE GOODS is an acclaimed US jazz bassist with a formidable record of credit. He is performed with individuals like Milt Jackson, Ruseel Malone, Brian McKnight, Walter Beasley, Sting, Whitney Houston and the Manhattan Switch. Extra not too long ago he was on the bassist’s stool for Robin McKelle’s ‘Alterations’ album (see our evaluations part) and at the moment he is selling his newest album… ‘My Left Hand Man.’

The 10 tracker is Items’ third LP as chief and it is an unashamed tribute to his mentor – the jazz pianist/educator Mulgrew Miller. Richie labored with Miller for 9 years and he helped introduce the bassist to the broader jazz neighborhood, so, for Richie it was utterly pure to report an album of Mulgrew Miller compositions.

Amongst the highlights is the light, reflective ‘The Sage’ and although that is clearly a bass-led assortment, Items permits his sidemen to stretch as and when. Amongst these sideman is keyboardist Shedrick Mitchell, one other participant on McKelle’s ‘Alterations’ whereas from a soul perspective it is price noting that the one “vocal” observe options ex-Zhane singer Jean Baylor. She fronts the sleek ‘Second Ideas’ … although her contribution is a extra a jazz vocal improvisation than a straight vocal.
