HERB COX DIES….

altHERB COX, lead singer with doo-wop group THE CLEFTONES died on Monday seventh December. Few particulars can be found save that Herb had been combating Alzheimers for the previous couple of months. He was aged 80

Born in Cincinnati in 1939, his household have been to relocate to New York and it was at Jamaica Excessive College in Queens that Herb and mates fashioned the Silvertones; then in 1955, renamed the Cleftones, they launched their first file… ‘You Child You’ which turned successful. Herb Cox then wrote ‘Little Woman of Mine’ and ‘Cannot We Be Sweethearts’ after a couple of extra minor hits the group splintered into numerous incarnations. Cox’s Cleftones loved some success with a 1962 launch of the usual, ‘For Sentimental Causes’.
