Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Lucky Daye has officially released his bold, sensual, and highly anticipated 15-track studio album, ALOUD!. The project, which finds the contemporary R&B architect embracing complete creative freedom, is available now via Warner Records.
Born out of an unexpected creative sabbatical in Brazil, the new project captures Daye at his most uninhibited. The album’s title plays on the tension between the words “allowed” and “aloud,” intentionally challenging the limits people place on themselves while inviting listeners to move, love, and live without seeking permission.
“I used to think I wasn’t allowed to do a lot of what I wanted, but I realized I had to allow myself to live ALOUD!” Daye explained regarding his mindset for the record. “Don’t let anybody silence you or tell you who you’re supposed to be. Say what you want, move how you want, and dance your way through the hard times.”
Moving fluidly between intimate R&B, smoky grooves, electronic textures, and raw rock-soul, ALOUD! is anchored by production from longtime collaborator D’Mile alongside an elite roster of contemporary hitmakers.
The 15-track effort boasts heavy-hitting guest features, including a seductive, jazz-inflected slow burn alongside Pusha T on the standout track “Mouf Say.” Additional highlights include “Fly U Out,” a sultry reunion with frequent collaborator Leon Thomas, and the raw rock-soul collision “Knockin,” featuring Muni Long and The Paradox. Akeem Ali also makes a featured appearance on the expansive project.
The album’s arrival was officially celebrated last night at an exclusive GRAMMY Museum Presents: The Drop event. Daye delivered a special live performance for attendees and participated in an intimate, career-spanning conversation moderated by media personality Gia Peppers.
The release builds upon a dominant stretch for the artist, whose recent single “Nowhere Fast” climbed into the Top 10 at R&B radio. Daye has also continued to expand his collaborative footprint, appearing on Teyana Taylor’s VMA-nominated “Hard Part” and Chris Brown’s “Slow Jamz.”
With two Grammy wins, 13 nominations, and a critically acclaimed catalog that includes Painted, Table for Two, Candydrip, and Algorithm, Daye has consistently pushed the boundaries of modern R&B. With ALOUD!, he takes his signature emotional candor and fearless experimentation even further.
