PLEASE STAY!

‘Keep’ is the most recent album from Atlanta soulstress SHAWNDELLA. Ms S has pursued a profitable session profession, loved some solo success and labored as a part of the SMOOTH BLEND duo with Ty Juan. Chances are you’ll keep in mind their ‘Couples Remedy: Session 1’ album.

Certainly Mr Juan is on the producer’s desk for ‘Keep’ and we’re informed that he wanted loads of guile to get younger Shawndella again into the studio. It appears she was in search of downtime after her final solo mission. However persuaded she was – and good factor too since ‘Keep’ is a pleasing trendy R&B/soul assortment and it could be a disgrace for that beautiful, pure voice to stay unheard.

Sonically, the 12 tracker is low key and really “American” reminding me in locations of Toni Braxton’s work. Many of the cuts are trendy R&B flavoured ballads (certainly the form of factor that Ms Braxton excels at). Better of the LP’s ballads is the old-fashioned ‘He is By no means Leaving Her’ – a well-recognized theme in soul music… a basic scorned mistress tune. ‘Babyface’ is attention-grabbing too – a story of a relationship ignited and maintained by Babyface’s music.

‘No person Cares’ is the one time the tempo lifts itself above the parapet… very sedately although. Nevertheless, the monitor at present getting the eye is ‘That Man’. Not fairly a ballad; not fairly a beater…. file underneath quirky and catchy; and, like the entire album – a beautiful showcase for a beautiful trendy soul voice.
