Tinashe Releases Dual Singles “Pillow Fight” and “I’d Rather Be Alone” Ahead of ‘Popstar’ Album

Tinashe Crash Out

Multi-platinum singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ Tinashe has officially released two brand-new singles, “Pillow Fight” and “I’d Rather Be Alone.” The dual release serves as the latest offering from her highly anticipated forthcoming studio album, Popstar, which is scheduled to arrive on September 25.

Available now across all major digital streaming platforms, the new tracks showcase a different dimension of Tinashe’s artistry, leaning heavily back into her R&B foundations from two distinct thematic directions.

“Pillow Fight” arrives as a playful, flirtatious R&B anthem, accompanied by an official music video directed by Zac Wiesel (known for his work with Megan Thee Stallion and Audrey Nuna). In contrast, “I’d Rather Be Alone” delivers a raw, empowering breakup ballad, further proving her versatility and expertise across various genres.

Alongside the new music, it was announced today that Tinashe will join global superstar Harry Styles as the supporting act on his Together, Together Tour. She is slated to open for Styles during his back-to-back stadium shows in Phoenix, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium on April 2 and April 3.

General on-sale tickets for the Phoenix dates will be available beginning Wednesday, September 16 at 9:00 a.m. local time via hstyles.co.uk.

The stadium dates follow Tinashe’s own highly successful trio of headlining album release shows scheduled for this fall in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. Demand for the intimate dates resulted in her fastest-selling pre-sale to date, with general on-sale tickets completely selling out shortly after. The upcoming shows will mark the first time Tinashe performs tracks from Popstar live.

The upcoming album will also feature Tinashe’s previously released, critically acclaimed singles “Melatonin,” “Crash Out,” and “Too Easy.” The releases have garnered widespread industry praise, with Rolling Stone featuring all three tracks on their “Songs You Need to Know” list. Billboard praised the clubby pop track “Too Easy” as being “coated in confidence,” while Stereogum highlighted “Melatonin” as an “all-out dancefloor blitz.”

Popstar arrives on the heels of a massive, chart-topping era for Tinashe. Following the breakout viral success of her 2024 Song of the Summer contender, “Nasty,” from her album Quantum Baby, she secured another massive hit with the Disco Lines collaboration “No Broke Boys.”

“No Broke Boys” dominated Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at No. 1 for several weeks. The inescapable track secured a nomination for International Song of the Year at the BRIT Awards, earned an American Music Award nomination for Social Song of the Year, and recently took home Dance Song of the Year at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Popstar is currently available for pre-order ahead of its September 25 release.
