Do not know an excessive amount of about New Orleans band JANK SETUP. I do know, although, that their newest launch, ‘Shy’ is a scrumptious slice of mild, modern soul.
Oddly for a contemporary band, their web profile is decidedly low…. fb… sure however that did not inform me an excessive amount of. After slightly detective work I discovered that the oddly named band (no clarification, may I discover!) are a 5 piece … Ethan Might on the drums, Adam Samolsky on the bass, Luis Carlos Villaseñor because the guitarist, Derrick Butler on the keys, and Kentro Mason is the vocalist. Although they add different musicians to the road up “as required”. With or with out these “extras”, Jank Setup make a stunning sound.
‘Shy’ is simply the sweetest of soul meanders… lazy and laconic, a jazzy undertow, mild brass riffling and a soulful falsetto (there’s even twittering birds in there!) all add as much as a stunning sound that deserves to be a yr finish hit. It’s an odd concoction however all of the disparate substances actually work collectively…. extremely really useful!
